Welcome to Lessons with Lori Piano Lessons & Tutoring.  Here you will find out information regarding piano lessons that I offer.

 

My programs are different than traditional piano lessons in that I teach to the specific learning style, interests and needs of each of my students.  Each student has their own individual program.  I also teach music holistically: I teach all the skills and theory through the songs I use instead of as separate components.   I compose and arrange a great amount of the music that I use so that I can target specific skills while keeping the students engaged in their learning.  My music is also available for sale on Sheet Music Plus and Sheet Music Direct.

I teach both in-person and  online lessons. Online lessons offer a fun, convenient way to take your lessons using your own piano or keyboard.  I use a special teaching program, Manycam, that I use within Zoom, as well as a variety of tools to keep the lessons fun, interactive and to enhance learning. Students have great success with online lessons, and you are able to have them from the comfort of your home, regardless of where you live! Online lessons are also used during snow days and when you are sick and aren't able to come, but still feel well enough to have your lesson.

How do lessons work with me?

• Students come weekly at the same time for their lesson (online or in-person to my home studio)

• Payment is charged per week as you are reserving that time slot.  Missed lessons are still charged as you have reserved that weekly time slot with me.  I do not guarantee rescheduled lessons as I run a full schedule of students.  I follow the school calendar as far as Christmas Break and March Break, so am closed those holidays (so no charge). I offer summer lessons, but I run things differently in the summer to accommodate for summer vacations, camps, etc. 

• Payment is made on the first day of each month (eg. September 1st, October 1st) for that month's lessons. Consistently late payment will result in dismissal from the program.  E-transfer is the method of payment used. I will send out an invoice electronically a few days before the due date as a reminder.  Once the payment is made, I record the payment and resend the invoice marked "Paid" that you can use as a receipt for your own records. 

• Students are expected to practice assigned work at home and keep track of their practice as I have a reward program for practicing. Practice techniques will be taught regularly during the lessons, including fun games to use to make practice time fun and engaging.

• Students are committed to attend lessons for the entire school year (September 9, 2024-June 20th, 2025).  Failure to do so will require one month's additional payment of fees from the ending date. 

• Most importantly, lessons will be kept fun, engaging and designed specifically to the student's interests and learning style.  I often involve the student in choosing the songs they want to learn.  We use a variety of techniques, games, colours, stickers, etc to help the student learn the concepts and to have fun while learning. The reason why my schedule has limited spaces year after year is my students return year after year. I believe in keeping my students engaged, in helping them to be relaxed as they learn and to show them that learning music is fun because music itself is fun!
